For John and Dianna Singleton, love and family have deep roots right here in World Golf Village. In fact, after relocating from St. Augustine to Nashville, Tennessee nearly 600 miles away, the couple was eager to return to World Golf Village, which they were able to do recently.

John and Dianna’s love story has been nothing short of storybook material. The couple met through work seven years ago and in February 2012 John popped the question to Dianna – with a bang.

“He proposed in front of Cinderella’s castle at Disney World during the fireworks show,” smiles Dianna. In April 2013, the couple held their nuptials in a waterfront ceremony at the historic Castillo de San Marcos.

Michael Narace has proven that a passion for helping people never really goes away.

After serving our country for 20 years as a U.S. Marine, he found a new path that enabled him to continue being an active community contributor, this time as a Realtor guiding clients through the home buying and selling process, as well as a resident of World Golf Village.

Says Michael, “I look forward to being an active part of the community and also helping fellow veterans with all of their real estate needs.” We recently caught up with Michael to learn more about him, his background, and the Narace family.

You’ve traveled and lived all around the world. What inspired you to make World Golf Village your family’s home?  I had the opportunity to compare many different neighborhoods. But, from the first time that I played the King & Bear and had a chance to visit the local schools, I decided it would be the perfect place to raise my kids, and build a life after the military.

You would be hard pressed to find a better example of dedication to community than Shelby Heinemann. A resident of Heritage Landing since 2004, Shelby has become a fixture in the World Golf Village scene. In fact, if you live here or have kids in the area’s schools, you have likely seen her busily helping out at school, showing properties to potential new residents, or smiling and waving at neighbors. For Shelby, it’s these seemingly small gestures that add up in a meaningful way.

Shelby has been a Property Manager with the Davidson Companies since May 2012 and boasts almost seven years of experience in the Property Management field – most of that experience garnered in World Golf Village. A mother of three, she is also an active education advocate within St. Johns County Schools and a Davidson Cares Board member. Davidson Cares is an organization that offers support for local schools, including Mill Creek Elementary, Wards Creek Elementary, Palencia Elementary, and Pacetti Bay Middle School.

If you ask Don Poppleton what inspired him and his wife Barbara to relocate from New England to World Golf Village more than 10 years ago, he might say it’s partly in the name.  A champion golfer, Don now enjoys beautiful views of the King & Bear from his back yard in Windmill Estates and close proximity to top notch courses and amenities.

Don has also secured a position as a notable contributor to the community.  He is currently serving in his second term on the Member Advisory Committee for the World Golf Village Golf Courses Club, and concluded his term as President last year.

We recently caught up with Don to ask some questions about himself and his experience here in World Golf Village.

Whether through work, community service, or just being a great neighbor, each of World Golf Village’s treasured residents give back to their community in their own ways.  Royal Pines resident Fred Odom is extraordinary because his efforts have benefited the area in each of these ways.

He serves on the Boards of Royal Pines Homeowners Association and Gateway Community Center in Jacksonville, in addition to dedicating time to several professional associations.  We recently caught up with Fred to get to know a little more about him and his background.

Q: From where do you hail and what brought you to St. Augustine? I am originally from Waycross, Georgia, but I have travelled around the world 65 times, so you say I am resident of the world.   I came to St. Augustine because of World Golf Village.

The World Golf Village has residents of all sorts, each with their own special view of the community.  We recently caught up with Ernie B. Davidson, a resident with a unique perspective on life here and a great personality to boot.  Here’s a look at 3-year-old Ernie and his life in World Golf Village.

First of all, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat.  How long have you lived here in World Golf Village?  “I was born and raised here.  I live in GroveWood in the King & Bear with my mom, an uncle, and a cat-brother Hubert.  They are very good servants except for Hubert, who is decidedly unaccommodating.  Mom keeps saying I have a new brother or sister coming soon, but I don’t know how to feel about that.”

Arthur Carlo is a World Golf Village resident who has given back immeasurably to the community he calls home.  Art has served as the President & CEO of Cascades Homeowners Association since 2007.  We recently had the pleasure of talking with Art.

Q: How did you come to call Cascades home? My wife, Rosalie, and I wanted to live closer to our grandchildren.  We looked at several 55+ communities in Florida, including in Orlando and North Florida.  From the moment we drove into World Golf Village, we were impressed.  The landscaping and the planning gave the community a welcoming sense of arrival.  When we toured Cascades and learned about its amenities, it clearly was a notch above.  I call it a cruise ship lifestyle without the water. Then Rosalie fell in love with the kitchen and we knew it was home!
