During this season of thankfulness, reflecting on all the good in life is inevitable. Your home, a place of shelter and retreat, is likely near the top of most lists of things to be grateful for. Residents of World Golf Village have an abundance of wonderful treasures in their community. Join us as we recall a few of those treasures as we are reminded of just how fortunate we are to be World Golf Village neighbors.

  1. Award-Winning Schools

World Golf Village families have much to be thankful for with the St. Johns County School District. Named one of the finest school districts in the United States, St. Johns County schools are ranked number one out of sixty-seven districts in Florida and have received a grade of “A” several years in a row. Students continue to shine in standardized tests and go on to thrive in college. Knowledge is power and families in World Golf Village are fortunate to have a stellar public school system to send their children to.

  1. Convenient Proximity to Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and The Beaches

You truly get the best of all worlds by living in World Golf Village. The location of World Golf Village allows you to conveniently drive to locations in the largest landmass city of Jacksonville, historic St. Augustine, and the miles of stunning beaches along the coast with ease. This allows World Golf Village neighbors to take advantage of all the exciting happenings taking place on the First Coast.

  1. Stunning Golf Courses

Many residents of World Golf Village find themselves with golf courses right in their own backyard. Two world-class championship golf courses, King & Bear and the Slammer & Squire are proud to call World Golf Village home. Whether you are a veteran or beginner, both courses are ready to treat you to a magic game of golf with their stunning scenery and immaculate conditions. Complete your experience golfing at World Golf Village by visiting each course’s pro shop and dining rooms.

  1. Natural Habitat

Northeast Florida’s natural beauty is the backdrop for The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village. More than forty-four percent of the community’s land is protected as a nature preserve. That is more than 2,700 of the 6,300 acres! This earned World Golf Village the ENVY award for building in harmony with Florida’s sensitive environment. With many parks and walking trails in World Golf Village, residents have ample opportunities to explore the great outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather in Northeast Florida.

One thing is for sure, World Golf Village residents have a lot to be thankful for… as this list could go on and on.

One thing that is true for most start up businesses and real estate projects is that timing is everything. The real estate business is known for it’s cyclical nature and fortunately in the case of WGV, the project actually hit the cycle just about perfect. Don’t get me wrong! With the wildfires just after the Grand Opening, the initial perceived remoteness of the site, and the almost immediate shift of the project residential market from resort/second home to primary housing; we encountered an enormous amount of challenges in the first few years of project sales and operations. Fortunately for the project, each issue was addressed successfully.

For the Maletta family, love and family came full circle right here in St. Augustine. It was here that more than 20 years ago, Tom and Michelle Maletta spent their honeymoon. And, after a couple major moves as well as extensive world travels, it is here where they returned in 2002 to lay roots and raise a family. They discovered their new home in Clubview Estates nestled near the first tee of the King & Bear golf course.

Today, Michele is a busy mother of three who was recently named to the Board of Davidson Cares. We caught up with Michele to ask her about her new appointment and her experiences.

Contest draws 1,268 entries and plenty of water cooler chat!

name it play it logo REDFINWe knew we’d have some entries when we created the new Name It, Play It contest but when the entries climbed to over 1,000 we were pleasantly surprised.  The contest also generated a lot of buzz.  We heard neighbors talking about it in the fitness center, it was discussed on the golf course and we even heard chatter about it in Publix.  And then there were the emails…let’s just say some people were passionate about their entries.  In the end, the entry with the most votes (591 to be exact) was Kingpin which cleverly speaks to Arnold Palmer’s nickname as The King and, of course, the golf pin.

name it play it logo REDFINThe Neighborhoods of World Golf Village, Honours Golf and Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village are teaming up for a once-in-a-lifetime shot for golf fans to leave their mark on the renowned King & Bear golf course.   The new Name It, Play It contest will invite folks to tap their right brain and suggest a creative name for Hole 15 on the King & Bear golf course at World Golf Village.  The King & Bear is the one and only time golf legends Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus collaborated to design a golf course.  The 15th Hole is Arnold Palmer’s self-professed favorite hole.  In fact, Palmer selected hole number 15 as one of his “Dream 18” in Sports Illustrated’s Preview to the Ryder Cup 2006.

The Name It, Play It contest will kick off this Spring countrywide.  Contestants will submit a name suggestion for the golf hole.  Inspiration may come from the hole’s premier design, its stunning natural setting, the way it plays or elsewhere. The top submissions will be selected and voted on by the public.  The winning name will receive the honor of leaving his or her mark on the legendary course as well as an exclusive trip for two to World Golf Village, complete with deluxe accommodations at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, golf for two on both the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire courses courtesy of Honours Golf, a travel voucher for up to $500 courtesy of the Neighborhoods of World Golf Village and more!
