The Village Church at World Golf Village is an Inter-denominational Christian Church focused on “Giving our Neighborhoods a Great Place to Worship!”  From humble beginnings in the early 2000s, The Village Church has become a spiritual hub of activity, offering engaging youth programs, adult bible study, community service projects, Weight Watchers meetings and a variety of other activities for all ages. The active and energetic congregation found at The Village Church shows that great things are achieved from humble beginnings.

The history of The Village Church at World Golf Village as chronicled on their website at www.villagechurchwgv.com explains that in January of 2000, a meeting was held at the request of Sherry Davidson to discuss the possibility of starting a church at World Golf Village. The Rev. Bob May, Sherry Davidson, and Nita Roberts met at the Davidson Realty office.  Most churches are started by either a denomination or a mission group that has the financial backing to underwrite it. The Village Church however began as a vision and a leap of faith. As Pastor Bob says, “No money, no people, no place, no problem.”
 
The first worship service was held in the Davidson Realty office on March 12, 2000 with just eight people in attendance.  Today the Village Church sits just past the intersection of State Road 16 and International Golf Parkway at 4229 Pacetti Road. Its congregation numbers well over 500 and between 300 and 400 attend services each week.   Founding Pastor Bob May was joined by Pastor Alan Liphart in 2007. 

What keeps people joining the Village Church every day is its welcoming spirit and active schedule.  The Village Church has a very active Youth Ministry that draws young families from World Golf Village, Murabella, Heritage Landing, Palencia, Kensington, Sevilla and other areas of north St. Johns County.  Under the direction of Youth Director Tom Bowers, the Village Youth Ministries is dedicated to giving young people a “Great Place to Grow in Christ.”  The programs includes weekly youth meetings, bible study, YoungLife, Wyldlife, Monday Lunch Bunch, Youth Sunday Worship, community service projects, group outings, mission trips and other special events.  A full list of activities can be found on the website at http://www.villagechurchwgv.com/tomsweeklymessage. 

In addition to the Youth Ministry, The Village Church offers Men’s and Women’s Ministries, Mission Trips, Community Outreach programs, bible study and more.  The result is a true spiritual hub that fosters worship, growth in Christ and good will throughout our World Golf Village and Northeast Florida community.
