Spotlight: William Li at Landmark Title Now in World Golf Village

Serving the entire Northeast Florida area, Landmark is constantly expanding its presence as a resource for more and more home buyers throughout our community. In fact, the title company is now a valued resource for Davidson Realty. William Li, Esq., recently launched a new Landmark Title location in Davidson’s World Golf Village headquarters, and they’re thrilled to welcome him!

Amidst his busy schedule, William recently slowed down to answer a few questions about his experience and Landmark Title.

Tell us a bit about your professional experience within law and title insurance.  I graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 2000 and worked for 10 years with a firm in Jacksonville that specialized in commercial real estate and land development.  For the last 2 ½ years I was part of the University of Florida’s General Counsel’s office where I handled all of the UF’s matters related to real estate, business transactions, contracts and financing. I recently joined Landmark, although David Heekin (Landmark’s owner) and I have been friends for about 20 years going back to our time at the University of Florida.

What made you interested in this specific field within law?  Real estate law is great because you work with something that is tangible and often involves a win-win situation where you have a buyer that is excited and happy and a seller that is happy.  It isn’t like that in other practice areas where often both sides are unhappy with the outcome.

Tell us a little about Landmark and its services Landmark Title handles residential and commercial closings and transactions and has about 25 employees between the title company and law firm.  Our main office is on Southside Boulevard in Jacksonville and I was hired to start up an office in World Golf Village to service the growing North St. Johns County market. 

Landmark Title has three locations in Northeast Florida (the one on Southside Boulevard, one in World Golf Village and one in St. Augustine), so there is always a convenient location for closing.  In addition, we’re about a month or two away from opening another Jacksonville office in the Riverside area.      

Why do customers come to Landmark Title for their real estate transactions?  The main reason is definitely our people.  The years of combined experience between the attorneys and staff at Landmark is tremendously valuable, and our clients and customers love that they can always get someone on the phone when they have an issue to discuss.  Being an attorney-owned title company gives us an enormous advantage over our competitors since we are able to act very quickly to resolve legal and title problems that often arise during the closing process.

In what ways do you serve as a resource to Davidson Realty’s agents?  We’re very excited about being here and look forward to serving as a resource for agents, not only for closings, but also in other areas where our law firm may be able to assist.  In addition to transactional real estate, we also have attorneys that handle business transactions, real estate-related litigation and estate planning.  I’ve only been here a few weeks but have already assisted several agents with legal issues they were having. 

If someone was interested in getting information or a quote, how can they do that?  They can call me (904-998-9733) or email me (william@landmarktitleinsurance.com).  I can usually turn around a draft HUD-1 Settlement Statement in about 5 minutes for anyone that wants to provide sellers with a more detailed and professional looking summary of their expected closing costs.  All I need is basic information such as purchase price, closing cost split and property address.
