Davidson Cares, the corporate giving program of Davidson Realty, Inc., is preparing to host its Leprechaun Chase 10K/5K and Kid’s Fun Run on Saturday, March 7, in World Golf Village. The race is title sponsored by Charles Schwab.

Davidson Cares invites runners, walkers, strollers and dogs to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day themed race, which will include a leprechaun for runners to chase.

The race will be chip timed and is open to all ages. Registration for the 10K/5K is $25 through February 22, after which it goes up to $30. Registration for children 16 and younger is $15 through February 22, after which it increases to $20.

Pre-registered athletes will receive an event T-shirt, custom bib and custom die-cast finishers medal. Race day registration and packet pick-up begins at 8 a.m. and closes at 8:45 a.m. The race will begin at 9 a.m.

Awards will be presented for the top three male and female overall, and first male and female masters. Age group awards will also be presented as well as walking division awards.

The Kid’s Fun Run is $5 and will take place before the main race. All Fun Run participants will receive a gold medal.

Food will be provided by HoneyBaked Ham and the Davidson Cares mascot, Ernie the French Bulldog, will make a special appearance. After the race, Davidson will draw the winner of its First Annual Davidson Cares’ Cooler & Cocktail Raffle.

The event will help Davidson Cares to raise money for local schools, including Mill Creek Elementary, Wards Creek Elementary, Palencia Elementary, Pacetti Bay Middle School and Nease High School. During the 2013-2014 school year, Davidson Cares raised more than $20,000 for schools to help purchase books and updated technology as well as fund important programs.
