Each month, we are going to introduce a World Golf Village resident to you. This month, golf member, 6-year King & Bear resident, family man and friend, Larry Flahardy (pictured left with wife, Linda) shares a little about himself with us…
1. What is your favorite thing about The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village?
- Golf courses, trees, serenity, family oriented.
2. What’s your best golf story?
- I had my first hole-in-one on #3 at King & Bear on August 24, 2004 – one day before my birthday. Linda and I were playing with Dan and Donna Yadon, who also live in the King & Bear. We had to seek cover after eight holes due to a bad storm. We resumed play because you must finish nine holes for the hole-in-one to count. We decided to continue to play the back nine and Dan Yadon got a hole-in-one on #14. The kicker is we were both playing Callaway clubs and we each used our six iron. A rainbow came out later. It was magical!
3. What is your worst golf story?
- There is no such thing as a worst golfing story! It’s all good!
4. What is your favorite swear word?
- I say #@$# and my wife says SPIT!
5. If you were offered a seat on the next space shuttle would you take it?
- No, I only want to make one trip that far up so I don’t want to push my luck.
6. If you could donate one million dollars to charity, which would you choose?
- $500,000 to Wolfson Children’s Hospital and $500,000 to my church, The Village Church, because the money is always used for the greater good of all people.
7. What one fear would you like to conquer?
- Flying
8. Which is more important intelligence or common sense?
- Common sense. It usually wins in the end.
9. If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would it be?
- I love my country and I love World Golf Village, so I think it is here. It would be great to live in Ireland for a while, but I would always want to be here.
10. What do you think is the ideal age?
- Thirty. You are old enough to understand life a little, you have your health and you are in your prime.
