When it comes to top quality craft brews, great times with friends, and live local music in St. Augustine, Mile Marker Brewing has truly made a name for itself.
As the only full-scale commercial brewery in America’s oldest city, Mile Marker and its micro-brewed beers have earned a reputation for unwavering quality. In fact, earlier this year, brewery owners attended the 2013 Best Florida Beer Championships in Tampa, and brought home a gold medal for Mile Marker Zero Blonde Ale, silver medal for Mile Marker 1565 Ancient City Red Ale®, and bronze medal for Mile Marker 70 Palm Beach Coconut Porter .

Says Speziale, “Successfully managing the transition from middle school to high school and from high school to college or other post high school opportunities can be a great advantage for students. With recent changes in academic requirements in the state of Florida, we want to help parents understand the changes and be aware of the resources available and what the St. Johns County School District is doing to help prepare students.”

Music is something that runs through everyone’s veins. There’s nothing like experiencing a band live on stage. The energy from the crowd, the unique venues and your favorite band take you away to a better place. We are very lucky to have so many outstanding venues that offer such a variety of music in Northeast Florida. Here is what’s coming up in our area:
The Fourth of July is all about patriotism, tradition, family fun and of course, fireworks! St. Augustine has all of these and more, so what better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than in America’s oldest city? Thousands of local residents will be out for the annual fireworks show over the Matanzas Bay. Located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, this event boasts one of the best pyrotechnic displays on the east coast.
Since our last visit to Mile Marker Brewery, the brew masters have added some great new unique beers on tap, entertainment, and BBQ for everyone to enjoy. As one of the fastest growing breweries in America’s oldest city, Mile Marker truly has exceeded all expectations in craft brewing and excellent service.
Let’s begin with the most important thing about Mile Marker…the beer! Since our last video, the brew masters have been working extremely hard to create one-of-a-kind beers that are like none other out there. The one I was most excited about was the double brewed IPA, known as the 215 Imperial IPA. If you are an IPA person like yours truly, you will enjoy this. The 215 is in reference to the Kennedy Space Center’s exit and the rebel spacecraft on the tap is there because they used both Millennium and Falconer Flight Hops. Another stand out was the Ginger Ale. A very smooth beer with hints of ginger amongst it, this is a great dinner beer, especially if you have a nice sushi roll to go along with it. The other two that are new since our last video are the Pecan Brown Ale and the Coconut Porter. Both are very flavorful, smooth and if you like a darker beer they are right up your alley.
More than 50 works by renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Mary Cassatt and John Singer Sargent will be on display at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens from February 16 through May 6, 2012 as part of the exhibit: Impressionism and Post Impressionism from The High Museum of Art. The exhibit illustrates the emergence of Impressionism in France during the 1870s, the movement’s evolution to Post-Impressionism, and its later influence on American artists. “This progressive look provides a unique perspective of one of the most controversial, significant and ultimately widely popular artistic movements,” said Hope McMath, Director of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. “We’re thrilled to bring this must-see collection to The Cummer and the city of Jacksonville.”
