Ponte Vedra Beach

Downtown St. Augustine 

Even if you’ve visited historic Downtown St. Augustine before, you likely only scratched the surface of this charming city on Florida’s Historic Coast. Truly immerse yourself in the Old City by paying a visit to Villa Zorayda to see art from around the world, taking a stroll down St. George Street and having lunch at Columbia, and partaking in the #1 Whiskey Tour in North America at St. Augustine Distillery. There is always something new to find in Downtown St. Augustine.

Anastasia Island

Just east of St. Augustine, you’ll find a barrier, 14-mile-long island called Anastasia Island. Known for its breathtaking beaches, Anastasia Island gives visitors a taste of Historic St. Augustine without the crowds. To get the full Anastasia Island experience, visit the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, the Fort Matanzas National Monument, and Anastasia State Park. Oh and if you have some little ones with you, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm is a MUST SEE! 

Riverside/Avondale 

New meets old in historic, eclectic Riverside and Avondale! While the area is most popularly known for being the home of the Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Riverside and Avondale have the wonderful ability of making everyone feel like a local. From the charming Riverside Arts Market under the Fuller Warren Bridge on Saturday to the multitude of breweries (Aardwolf and Brewz are excellent choices!), there is something for everyone to enjoy. 

Amelia Island 

Whether you are interested in a romantic getaway, a fun family vacation, or a day trip exploring, Amelia Island has it all! Amelia Island is a quiet piece of Northeast Florida paradise with a stunning beach and a quaint town. Enjoy a bite at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro for a relaxed, island atmosphere and fresh seafood specialties. Visit the tranquil Amelia Island State Park – the only Florida state park that offers horseback riding on its beaches! Once you visit historic Amelia Island once, you’ll be longing for another visit.

Do this, not that: A quick guide to protecting against coronavirus

With all the news coverage about COVID-19, it can be difficult to know how to get the most accurate and up-to-date information to protect yourself and your family.

Further, plenty of misinformation is circulating about prevention. Here are the most basic do’s and don’ts as curated from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Do:  Wash your hands often, for 20 seconds or longer. Also, use hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol.

Don’t: Rely on face masks to protect you. According to Johns Hopkins, “For the general public without respiratory illness, wearing lightweight disposable surgical masks is not recommended. Because they don’t fit tightly, they may allow tiny infected droplets to get into the nose, mouth or eyes.”

Do:  Go about your regular activities but try to keep a distance of at least 2-3 feet from those around you. Also, avoid large groups and mass gatherings. In fact, Gov. DeSantis has asked that all mass gatherings in the state be cancelled for the next month.

Don’t: Try to prevent or kill the COVID-19 virus by ingesting, gargling or applying harsh chemicals to your body. It has been rumored that chlorine bleach or alcohol can mitigate the spread. WHO says this is not true and is very dangerous.

Nextdoor: A great way to stay connected to your World Golf Village neighbors

Amid our ever-expanding world of online networks and social media groups, it can seem more and more difficult to connect with the actual people in our community. Nextdoor has created a great way to use social media to shrinkour network to only include our neighbors!

The website and app, which launched back in 2011, are available for free and only require your email to sign up. They also need your street address so you can be placed in the correct neighborhood group.

Once you join, you’ll find real messages from your neighbors—unlike other platforms that offer ads and reposts by people you barely know about their co-worker’s cousins’ 50thbirthday party.

Plus, there is no need to send requests to connect! You will immediately be connected with all of your neighbors who are members. Since it’s an established platform, you’ll be surprised how many people you know are already members!

Here is what’s coming to the Pavilion at Durbin Park

By next spring, northern St. Johns County residents will enjoy the benefits of close-by amenities just like our Jacksonville neighbors. With the development of the Pavilion at Durbin Park, World Golf Village and other northern SJC residents will have easy access to popular shops, restaurants and entertainment.

 

Tucked between Race Track Road and the new 9B connector, the town center is comprised of multiple phases and will cover 1,600 acres. Many of the Phase 1 businesses are expected to open by spring 2019. In fact, the new Walmart is already open.

Thanks to 9B’s completion and the new CR 2209 roadway construction through Silverleaf (connecting CR 210 to SR 16), getting to Durbin Park will soon be easier for World Golf Village residents.

Once completed, Durbin Park will feature the largest shopping center in Northeast Florida. In addition to stores and restaurants, development is planned for hotels, office space and multifamily residential units. Durbin Park will also boast greenspace and bike trails.

Davidson agent Mirtha Barzaga helps kids prepare to learn through school supply drives

Davidson Realty agent Mirtha Barzaga recently held back-to-school drives at the King & Bear Amenity Center and Heritage Landing Amenity Center in World Golf Village. Mirtha collected school supplies to benefit kids in need at several St. Johns County Schools.

The turnout was fantastic at both events, helping lots of students to start the school year off right! Generous donors delivered essential supplies like backpacks, notebooks, folders, markers, crayons, scissors and more.

“Many local students don’t have the basic things they need for school, which makes academic success all the more difficult for them,” said Mirtha. “These supplies help give students the confidence they need to learn, knowing they have the necessary tools.”

A COMMUNITY GROWS AMONGST THE OAKS

The World Golf Hall of Fame celebrates the history, heritage and traditions of golf. The World Golf Village (WGV) community-at-large celebrates its ever-evolving special place through continued good-growth in a Live Oak punctuated landscape that is well on its way to making its own history and establishing its own legacy.
The original neighborhoods of Turnberry, Royal Pines, St. Andrews, The Legends, Meadows and Heritage Landing are all complete – with over 2,200 homes. The King and Bear neighborhoods are 92% occupied, with 892 of their 968 homes complete. The first WGV age-restricted neighborhood is thoroughly-well established with 450 single-family homes in The Cascades.
Recently, there has been a resurgence of home-building that is filling out and completing many of the associated WGV neighborhoods. Greenside at WGV is rapidly building 36 single family homes overlooking the Slammer & Squire #6 fairway. Legacy Trail is also nearing completion with 30 exclusive single family homes – most overlooking the #16 & #17 fairways of the Slammer & Squire.

Located near the heart of World Golf Village, the DreamFinders community is becoming known for its central location and scenic lots. Most of Greenside’s 36 lots sit adjacent to the Slammer & Squire’s sixth fairway and green, water or nature preserve.

Like an Athlete in Training – Picture This

The most successful, competitive and accomplished athletes train with their minds. They can close their eyes and literally picture – and see – how to execute a routine, make a move, lead and score. They are able to imagine themselves in the winner’s circle.

After 20 years of home ownership and raising a family, I recently put my home on the market – thinking surely someone would come along and “see” and “sense” what we experienced over those years.
